WIFW S/S 2015 : MASABA

" Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light." Well that was the exact reaction people had when they saw Masaba's Collection during Day 3 of WIFW S/S 2015.
It was a crackling collection which brought the festival of lights on the ramp. Pulling inspirations from novelist Roman Payne’s poetry for her collection she recreated the free spirited literary character ‘Saskia’. Ergo, the ‘Wandress’ . Her collection had a burst of colors heavily dominated by gold, yellow, red and white. Fabrics such as scuba, satin and crepe were used in this collection.
Now coming to the main and the most popular part - Prints. I think Masaba is one of those designers whose prints have a trickle down effect in the industry. Her graphic print sarees made headlines and 'inspired' (read duplicated) by dozens of local vendors. Her current collection left me in awe. Its brilliant, quirky and I can already hear the hum of all the machines duplicating those prints right now.
The brilliant use of firecrakers as prints along with the zodiac symbol, Capricorn printed on some of the designs, which came embellished with gemstones left me wanting for more. The neckpieces added another level of oomph to her designs.I love the way she used the firecrackers to accessorize the hair and the gold shoes is something I am now itching to buy.
In all 'House of Masaba' showcased a brilliant collection and Masaba- I bow down to thee.
Much Love
