FROM DRAB TO FAB

“It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.”

— Alexander McQueen

Modernity has paved a way to creativity. Creativity always existed through the centuries but in today’s times, creativity has a whole new meaning with new formed dimensions. In this modern world of ours where work has become a priority and ample money at our disposal, we often face the challenge of how to stand out. In the cut throat race that we face everyday in our work lives, no matter how much we work is not enough. So how do we stand out? How do we create an impression? And good impression, a lasting impression. Well one of the important pointers lie in dressing up well. Its the presentation that matters first and the rest will follow.

With ample money to our disposal, why not create a wardrobe which screams ‘Dress to Impress’. You do not need to own an Armani or a Gucci handbag to impress (though if you do, then nothing like it). All you need to do is dig in to your wardrobe old and new, and mix and match. Do not be scared of adding colour to your look. Colours if co-ordinated well will never make you look out of character. On the other hand it will just help you spread a little office cheer.

Working in an MNC does not mean that you have to dress dull. You can still create amazing office looks and not look eccentric. Here are a few thing that I guess everybody has in their wardrobe which can go perfectly to create a lasting impression.

Blazers: This is one article which can make you look formal no matter what you co ordinate it with. A blazer goes well with dresses, skirts, trousers and almost everything else in your wardrobe. It is not necessary to wear a totally formal blazer to get the desired look, a light casual blazer also works well.

Trousers: You do not always need to wear formal trousers to work. You can wear a high waisted palazzo, bell bottoms, skinny jeans and look official as well. Co ordinate it with a nice sheer ruffle top, tuck it in, a nice slim belt and you are good to go.

Skirts: Maxi, midi or mini, skirts with varying hemlines should not stop you from wearing them. You can wear a tank top (with or without a shrug) or a chambray. A pretty floral or plain top also works fine. A high waist skirt also works wonders.

Bags: A bag can literally make or break a look. Are you not bored of carrying the dull laptop bag to office everyday? If your clothes lack colour, then add a colourful bag and the deal is done.

Accessories- A nice neckpiece, a bow broach, a little bit jewellery, scarves will not harm you. It will complete the look and make the outfit speak for itself.

So get set and go. Make a lasting impression on your co-workers, boss or the cute guy you have a crush on for a long time. So till then ‘Stay Aware and Stay Stylish’.

Much Love
